Students are encouraged to move at their own pace with intention and to listen to their body as they explore their own edge and discover inner strength. Modifications will be given to beginners as well as seasoned practitioners.

Every day gravity does it’s best to draw us down to the ground. AcroYoga is a natural extension of our practice. It allows us to thumb our nose at gravity, lift each other up, and turn ourselves upside down. By connecting with our core through the hands and feet and trusting one another, we gain confidence to raise ourselves and others towards the sky. Whether you are brand new to AcroYoga or looking for more work on the basics come learn, play and fly with the Acro community at Centered Studios.

A system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a progressive series of postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. For experienced practitioners and athletic beginners who are seeking a more dynamic, physical practice.

Begin the day and take full advantage of our short summer months by joining our yoga practice at 6 a.m. We understand it’s difficult to get up early, but we promise, you won’t regret this moment of paradise! Let's meet at the basketball court, just south of Touhy near the parking lot at Loyola Beach Park – did we mention, there’s a parking lot? Available June - August; weather permitting.

We're beyond thrilled to announce our partnership with the awesome folks over at Leone Beach SUP (1222 W. Touhy) to bring you a playful practice with serious benefits. Paddleboard Yoga requires a different quality of focus and gives you a full body workout. Join us for 30 minutes of beach yoga, followed by a 60 minute paddle to practice your yoga skills on a paddle board. Full disclosure: if your weight isn't evenly distributed, you may end up in Lake Michigan. When you walk down the path towards the water, just passed the basketball court, LBSUP is on the north side. Look for the white rectangular storage container that reads 'mobile mini'. Bring a towel, water and sunscreen. Available June - August. Please note, SUP yoga is different pricing than regular yoga.
Alternating between cardio and circuit training, Boot Camp is designed to build strength and fitness. Modifications will be offered during each section - prepare to work hard and be pushed a little further than you might go by yourself at the gym!
We started this class in addition to our Pay it Forward Special to help make yoga more accessible to folks living in our community. The suggested donation is $8 but you can pay as little as $1. Please note, this is not a free class since we do have to pay our student teacher. Community Yoga is an intro level class focused on restorative poses to get your body feeling refreshed and stress free - ready to start the new week.
heated vinyasa flow
Heated (85-90 degrees) vinyasa flow emphasizes continuous movement using sun salutations, dynamic breathing and long holdings. Each part of the body (inside and out) is explored and worked in a deep and mindful way. This practice builds strength, tones and detoxifies.
This balanced flow will cultivate a sense of calm and peace while developing greater flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. The class pace allows time to explore postures while carefully moving through smooth, flowing transitions that link breath with movement. Perfect for students who would like to deepen their understanding of postures, alignment, and breath awareness. Requests are taken and modifications are offered at each class. All levels can enjoy this practice - set to music and your breath.
Mindful movement uses a combination of poses, sun salutations, dynamic breathing and long holdings. Each part of the body (inside and out) is explored and worked in a deep and mindful way. This practice builds strength, tones and detoxifies.
This self-led practice is inspired by the Ashtanga yoga classes in Mysore, India taught by its primary teacher Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). Ashtanga is based on 6 series of asanas. Students work independently at their own pace on the particular series of postures that is most appropriate for them. The teacher assists each student individually. Students may enter at any time during the scheduled class and begin their practice.
A blend of gentle + strengthening yoga postures, breath work, and meditation that will address common discomforts of pregnancy and prepare you for birth. Ideal for women at all stages of pregnancy, birth choices, and levels of experience. Prenatal yoga is a great opportunity to build community with other moms and take intentional time to connect with your body and baby.

R.I.P. candlelight flow
Relax. Restore. Rejuvenate. A creative sequence led under low lighting and relaxing candlelight. This lovely candle lit class draws from the traditions of Vinyasa yoga and uses pranayama (breath work) to achieve balance within the body and mind. A class created to keep you moving, linking breath to movement while incorporating traditional yoga poses.
During R.I.P. Candlelight Flow we practice yoga set to the music of many of our favorite musicians who have passed away. Stretch and flow to the sounds of David Bowie (2/8), Leonard Cohen (2/15) and George Michael (2/22), Prince (3/1), Michael Jackson (3/8), Curt Cobain (3/15), Amy Winehouse (3/22), Sharon Jones (4/5), Allen Toussaint (4/19), Bob Marley (4/26), John Lennon (5/3), Janis Joplin (5/10), Whitney Houston (5/17).
Strength & flexibility YOGA
A Hatha yoga class emphasizing postures that promote strength and flexibility for a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A ‘pose of the month’ will be added to challenge and broaden your yoga practice. Shoulder and head massages with essential oil are enjoyed in the beginning and end of your practice during final resting pose.
A balanced flow linking breath to movement, that allows you to work up a sweat, explore more challenging poses and push yourself, while also offering time to wind down, restore, stretch and relieve stress. Requests are taken and modifications are offered at each class. All levels can enjoy this practice.
Yoga 101 introduces breathing techniques, proper alignment, and a strong foundation to which your practice can flourish. Perfect for students who are new to yoga, those returning to yoga after a break, or regular practitioners looking to brush up on their fundamentals.This class gives students of all levels the opportunity and access to return to the principles of yoga in a fun and empowering environment.
