Guru Purnima; 745 pm

Guru Purnima celebrates teachers both academic and spiritual, as the lunar cycle peaks following the summer solstice. The word Guru translates from Sanskrit as the "Remover of Darkness" (Gu = Darkness, Ru = Remover).

On Guru Purnima, we celebrate our teachers by holding a Puja (a short ceremony of thanks), sweets are served, and the hosts will speak on the Philosophy of Vedic Knowledge (derived from the Vedas). The Vedas are an ancient body of knowledge from which we get Yoga, Meditation, and Ayurveda; lifestyle techniques for balance and longevity.

The evening commences with a walk to the lake, to ask for a "boon" (or gift) for honoring your teachers by committing, or recommitting, to new learning. Join us this July 9th to deepen current relationships, make new friends, and celebrate teachers everywhere.

What would it feel like to glow with the luster of authenticity? To shimmer with forgiveness? To shine with certainty? It's time to wipe off the tarnish of the stories we all tell ourselves daily, and discover the brilliance of what's beneath: your truth.

I am excited to announce that Christine Smith Cooley and Christine Forester are hosting their next Psychic Supper Club at Centered Studios. In addition to a delicious meal and energy readings and healings, Nadia Pillay will begin the festivities with a 30 minute yoga class (no experience needed) to get your body and spirit feeling calm.

We promise you'll leave feeling relaxed, invigorated, and most importantly, like you've discovered a new part of yourself that you always suspected was there.

There are 7 spots available and they won't last long. Tickets are $50, and include a 30 minute yoga session, a meal with beverage, dessert and of course, cheesy biscuits from Smack Dab, + over an hour of personal energy readings, healings and meditations.

Spots are first come, first serve!

'TEAM' Business Pot Luck 6:30PM

This is a group for graduates of any Traditional East Asian Medicine (TEAM) programs working in the fields of acupuncture, herbal medicine, eastern nutrition, qi gong etc, to discuss and help each other organize 'business strategies' with no limit on that large term.

Likely members will be graduates of PCOM, MCOM, or National here in Illinois but there is no requirement to be from these schools. Mitchell Harris started this group to help mentor students in the business of working for yourself or trying to start something special in your field. As a Practice Management teacher with Pacific College, Chicago, owning several businesses and with 10+ years experience I have a mission to help introduce the world with LAc, Dipl OM and Doctors of EAM.

Others new or seasoned in the field plan to be joining us each quarterly meetup to expand our perspective, dialog and learning with a structured environment for engaging business strategy techniques catered to the interests of the group.

We look forward to seeing you on the 25th!

Wholebody Mindfulness: Awakening Your Senses 7-9PM

In this evening of mindfulness, we will explore our senses as gateways to mindful awareness of the present moment. You will come away with practices you can use to relax, center yourself, and enter into the exquisiteness of every moment of your life.

We will use classic mindfulness practices including mindful breathing, walking, and tasting to experience the depth and enjoyment that is “hidden in plain sight” within our days. You’ll explore practices including:

- Mindfulness of the breath
- Mindful tasting of raw chocolate truffles
- Mindful listening to music
- Mindful relating to others in sharing
- Mindfulness of the body through movement and qi gong
- Mindfulness of thoughts

My intention for the evening is to create an experience of “wholebody mindfulness,” a felt-sense experience of mindfulness that includes all that we are: bodily sensations, feelings, and thoughts – in a gentle embrace of mindful awareness.

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for gentle stretching and bring a meditation cushion if you have one. Meditation cushions and a limited number of chairs will be available.
