Participants will learn and practice techniques to release their own fascial restrictions in commonly tense areas (as well as any areas requested from participants) and will also learn a handful of partner releases. Join singer-songwriter, song leader and certified yoga teacher, Leah Shoshanah, for an intimate musical experience of connection and healing. This offering will feature Leah's original music on voice and guitar, group singing and improvised loop pedal 'song-scapes'. Enjoy curated tea blends from herbalist Caroline Sufrin during the event.

 

Wear comfortable clothing and bring something to sit on [a pillow or a chair]. Yoga mats, bolsters and blankets will be available for use.

About Leah Shoshanah: Through her soulful, original music, Leah Shoshanah creates a sense of 'being home' and offers a space for people from all walks of life to connect in song, tears, laughter and dance.

Over the past decade, Shoshanah has played on historic stages in Chicago, like the Old Town School of Folk Music, PianoForte, Martyrs' and the Green Mill. She has played to audiences of thousands on tour in Germany, put on cabaret-style solo acts in underground neighborhood theaters, led musical meditations, and helped individuals and communities move through loss and celebrate life with song.

Shoshanah is the proud recipient of the Department of Cultural Affairs [2022] grant for her jazz, indie-rock fusion project that combines early 70's disco funk with modern indie-rock and Chicago-style soul. Album coming in Summer 2024.

Join us for our inaugural Mantra Yoga Workshop with Mary Kirkendoll, Owner, Eudora Yoga Center in Kansas.

Participants will leave with an appreciation and understanding of the mantras taught. This experiential workshop will deeply impact a seeker’s connection to this great mother language.

Mantra simply means “mind tool”. You can use these mantras to enhance your meditation practice, or to illuminate your contemplation of yoga philosophy.

Students will receive individual attention when learning the correct pronunciation of Sanskrit sounds and there will also be time for group chanting. We will use our newly-published 108 page Mantra Yoga Chanting Book which includes mantras in Sanskrit (Devanagari), transliterations with diacritic marks for pronunciation guidance, and translations.

No Sanskrit experience necessary, all levels are welcome.

Mary has a Sanskrit certification from the Shri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry, India, studying with renowned Sanskrit scholar Sampadananda Mishra. Mary is the owner of the Eudora Yoga Center, where she offers regular classes in Sanskrit, Mantra Yoga, Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, yoga philosophy, pranayama, mudra, and meditation.

Summer Solstice Celebration; 615 pm

Come shine bright as we celebrate the summer solstice through yoga and community. The start of summer reminds us of our own inner light, possibilities and purpose - now it's time to blossom and grow! Join the Rogers Park community for a 75-minute Vinyasa flow class to salute the sun, connect with breath and set intentions for the abundance that awaits. All levels are welcome!

After class at 7:30 p.m., we'll cheers to the International Day of Yoga by visiting our new neighbor, Picnic Wine and Provisions (7301 N. Sheridan Road) for a glass of wine and some small bites. We look so forward to spending the evening with you!
