Every day gravity does it’s best to draw us down to the ground. AcroYoga is a natural extension of our practice. It teaches us to turn ourselves upside down, and lift one another up. By connecting with our core through the hands and feet and trusting each other, we gain confidence to raise ourselves and others towards the sky. Whether you are brand new to AcroYoga or looking for more work on the basics come learn, play and fly with the Acro community at Centered Studios. You are never too heavy, or too old to explore AcroYoga.

Ashtanga Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga that was systematized and introduced in the twentieth century by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). Ashtanga means eight limbs or branches of yoga mentioned in the ancient text Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, of which asana or physical yoga posture is merely one branch, breath or pranayama is another. The method of Ashtanga Yoga integrates breath, movement, gaze and posture within the set series of postures. What makes the practice unique is ‘vinyasa’, linking breath and movement and ‘tristhana’, method of 3 points of attention, breath, asana (physical postures), drishti (gazing point). For each movement, there is one breath. That is vinyasa. Three points of attention are the core concepts of the practice that work three levels of purification, the body, nervous system and the mind. They are practiced in conjunction with each other.
This class is inspired by a fusion of yoga postures and ballet barre exercises with the focus on creating strength and length in the body. Class is done without a barre to help increase balance and stability. Beginning with a warm-up and breath work, and ending with stretching and savasana.
